Why Does Edema Occur In Nephrotic SyndromeWhy does edema occur in Nephrotic Syndrome? Nephrotic Syndrome is a group of symptoms that include proteinuria, low blood protein levels in blood, high triglyceride levels and swelling. Here let’s know the causes of edema in Nephrotic Syndrome.

In Nephrotic Syndrome, there is a damage to the tiny, filtering blood vessels in your kidneys. Besides, declining levels of protein in your blood can lead to fluid accumulation and edema.

What is the treatment for edema in nephrotic syndrome?

Edema or swelling treatment in Nephrotic Syndrome includes:

    1. Rest

This depends on the seriousness of the edema and takes into account the risk of thrombosis caused by prolonged bed rest.

    2. Nutritional therapy

Correct energy intake and balance of proteins will be used in synthesis processes and not as a source of calories. A total of 35kcal/kg body weight per day is recommended. The first is not to consume more than 1g of protein/kg body weight per day as a greater amount could increase the degree of proteinuria and cause a negative nitrogen balance. Patients can consume lean cuts of meat, fish and poultry. The second is that water intake is not greater than the level of diuresis. Also salt must be controlled as this contributes to water retention. It is advisable to restrict sodium intake to 1 or 2g/day. This means salt can not be used in cooking and salty foods should also be avoided. High sodium foods include seasoning blends like garlic salt, Adobo, season salt, canned soups, canned vegetables containing salt, luncheon meats such as turkey, ham, salami, prepared foods, fast foods, soy sauce, salad dressings.

    3. Medication

The medication for edema is diuretic drugs especially loop diuretics such as furosemide. In severe cases of edema or in patients with one of a number of severe infections, the diuretics can be administered intravenously.

More importantly, the radical treatment for edema in Nephrotic Syndrome is a systematic Chinese medicine treatment including Medicated Bath, Medicated Foot Bath, Mai Kang Mixture, Moxibustion Therapy, Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy and Enema Therapy, etc. Our Chinese medicine treatments can repair injured tiny filtering blood vessels in kidneys and improve renal function. In this way, swelling will be treated from the root. Proteinuria and other complications like high triglyceride and hyperlipidemia will also disappear naturally and effectively.

Why does edema occur in Nephrotic Syndrome? The above has given you suggestion. If your current condition relapses frequently, you can try Chinese medicine treatments to treat your edema from the root.
