What Food Can I Take With High Creatinine Level 6.6

    2017-06-01 09:24| Font Size A A A

Food Can I Take With High Creatinine Level 6.6When kidneys fail to work properly, creatinine level increases in the body. Besides medication, diet is also important for high creatinine level 6.6mg/dL. Well then, what foods are good for elevated creatinine level 6.6?

    Food to avoid

    1. Salt

High salt intake can cause high blood pressure and fluid retention. It is advised to avoid adding any salt to meals and also to reduce the intake of very salty foods such as processed meats, bacon, sausages soup and packed sauces.

    2. Protein

Protein intake is important during the progression of kidney disease and also when you start dialysis. The protein we eat is used for tissue repair and growth. Any unused protein is broken down into wastes including urea and creatinine. When your kidneys can not excrete urea and creatinine, they build up in your blood and cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and poor appetite.

Before dialysis, if you eat large amounts of protein foods like meat, fish, chicken, eggs, cheese, milk and yogurt, it can affect the buildup of urea and creatinine in your body. You should consult your doctor for proper daily intake of protein. Besides, once dialysis has started, you should make sure your body is getting enough protein to prevent malnutrition. How much protein you need depends on your body size and is specific to each individual.

    3. Fluid

If you are treated with dialysis, you need to limit fluid intake. Fluid intake depends on the amount of urine you produce. You can reduce your fluid intake by using small cups, glasses, and spacing out your drinks throughout day.

Besides, phosphorus and potassium should also be limited. High phosphorus foods include milk, cheese, yogurt and also bran nuts and cola. And high phosphorus foods include bananas, dried fruit, peas, beans, spinach and potato products such as chips and crisps.

Each person with high creatinine level and kidney disease is very different and so are their needs and requirements.
