    CKD Stage1~2

    Dry Skin and Chronic Kidney DiseaseSkin change is a common symptoms of Chronic Kidney Disease. The common skin problems in CKD are dry skin and itchy skin.

    What is Dry Skin?

    Dry Skin is a common complaint in patients with end stage kidney disease or Kidney Failure. Dry skin means that your skin are not as moist as it should be, in which condition your skin is lack of water.

    If you have dry skin, you may experience a feeling of skin tightness, especially after showering, bathing or swimming.

    How Are Dry Skin and Chronic Kidney Disease Connected?

    The kidneys work with hormones in the body to retain or excrete fluids. These organs also maintain electrolyte levels, produce urine and filter waste from the blood. When kidneys are damaged, the declined kidney function will cause kidneys cannot work normally, which may make changes in the sweat glands and oil glands. This is how kidney disease causes skin to dry out.

    How to Treat Dry Skin Caused by Chronic Kidney Disease?

    Dry skin can lead to infections and cause the skin wounds to heal slower, which can contribute to itchy skin. Dry skin caused by kidney disorders causes itching, discomfort and, sometimes, flaking. As kidney disease progresses, a build-up of waste in the blood makes the itching worse.
