Can Foamy Urine Be Present in CKD Stage 2

Can Foamy Urine Be Present in CKD Stage 2Chronic Kidney Disease refers to gradual loss of kidney function and it is divided into five stages according to glomerular filtration rate (GFR). In different stages, patients will suffer from different symptoms. Well then, can foamy urine be present in CKD Stage 2?

A person with stage 2 chronic kidney disease (CKD) has kidney damage with a mild decrease in their GFR of 60-89ml/min. In the stage, patients usually do not suffer from symptoms which can indicate kidneys are damaged. Because our kidneys are endowed with strong compensatory ability and a half of renal function can guarantee our body health. Therefore, even though the kidneys are not functioning at 100%, they can maintain the body health. This is why most people do not know they have stage 2 kidney disease. If they do find out they’re in stage 2, it’s usually because they were being tested for another condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure-the two leading causes of kidney disease.

And other ways a person may discover they are in stage 2 chronic kidney disease include:

Creatinine level is higher than the normal range.

    Blood or protein in urine.

Evidence of kidney damage in an MRI, CT scan, ultrasound and so on.

A family history if polycystic kidney disease (PKD).

Through the above analysis, we can see that foamy urine can present in patients who suffer from chronic kidney disease. Foamy urine means that some protein leak into urine through holes of the glomerular. For the healthy kidneys, they can keep useful substance in the body and transfer them into energy, but for the damaged kidneys, they will lose the ability. The impaired kidney fails to keep protein in the body. And protein loss in the urine can cause the foams or bubbles in urine. What’s more, along with the condition, patients are prone to suffer from swelling or edema. Therefore, you should pay much attention to your kidney healthy when there is foam in urine.
