Why Patients with CKD Have Bleeding in Their Urine

Why Patients with CKD Have Bleeding in their urineFor patients with chronic kidney disease, their kidney function will be damaged gradually by their disease, which can cause them to have many health problems. Some patients with CKD may find they can bleeding, and as we can imagine, that is very scaring. Well then, why patients with CKD have bleeding in their urine?

Bleeding is because there is red cells leaking in urine, which cause patient’s urination like bleeding. In fact, hematuria can be divied into gross hematuria and microscopic hematuria, while bleeding urine means patients have gross hematuria. In fact, bleeding in patients with CKD can be caused by several reasons.

What is the most common cause of bleeding?

Kidney consists of nephrons, and there are glomerulus in nephron, which is in charge of filtrating out the metabolic wastes and keeping the useful nutrients in our body. While for patients with CKD, their disease may damage glomeruli, which can increase the permeability of glomerular filtration membrane.

When the permeability of glomerular filtration membrane is increased, the substances that should be kept in blood will leak out through urine. When patients have the leakage of red cells, that will cause patients to have hematuria. If there are lots of red cells leaking in patient’s urine, patient will have gross hematuria, which will make patient’s urination like bleeding.

    Other causes of urine bleeding:

Except for hematuria, other factors can also cause patients to have urine bleeding. For example, for patients with kidney cyst or PKD, it is easy for them to have urine bleeding when their cyst size is very big, and that is caused by the rupture of their kidney cyst. Besides, kidney stone is also a common complication of kidney disease, and it can cause patients to have bleeding when the movement of kidney stone scratches the tissues of kidney and blood vessels.

These are the common causes of urine bleeding in patients with CKD, and patients should take measures to deal with this problem according to their conditions. Kidney disease is very dangerous, and patients should do their best to improve their condition. If you need any help, you can leave us a message about your details and problem.
