Why Patients with Stage 3 CKD Have Foamy Pee And NauseaKidney disease is a silent disease, which is not easy to be noticed until patient’s kidney function is damaged obviously. Stage 3 CKD means patient’s kidney function is damaged moderately, and patients begin to have obvious symptoms in their body in this stage. In fact, foamy pee and nausea are common symptoms in patients with CKD stage 3.

Why patients with stage 3 CKD have foamy pee?

Foamy urine can be caused by many factors, but for patients with kidney disease, it is more likely to be caused by kidney damage. That is due to proteinuria at this point, and that will be a dangerous condition.

Protein should be kept in blood in normal condition, and little protein will leak in urine. However, patient’s kidney damage can cause damage in glomeruli, which will increase the permeability. As a result, excess protein will leak out through patient’s urine in this process. If patients have massive proteinuria, that will cause patients to have foamy pee.

Why patients with stage 3 CKD have nausea?

Nausea is also a common symptom in patients with chronic kidney disease, because it can be caused by many factors.

A major cause of nausea is the accumulation of metabolic wastes in body, especially high urea level. Toxins in body can stimulate patient’s gastrointestinal system, which can cause patients to have nausea. Besides, high urea can stimulate the bacteria in gastrointestinal tract, which can cause urea to be decomposed and produce ammonia. Ammonia has strong irritation, which can make patients to have nausea.

Another common cause of nausea is edema in gastrointestinal tract, which is often caused by massive proteinuria. Besides, when patient’s kidney function is damaged obviously, that will cause patients to have the metabolic disorder of potassium. In fact, both hyperkalemia and hypokalemia can cause patients to have nausea.

These are the reasons of nausea and foamy pee in patients with stage 3 CKD, and patients should have a better understanding about them, which is very beneficial for them to deal with these common problems.
