    CKD Stage1~2

    To be frank, most of us are tempted by delicious food around the holidays. However, for people on special diets because of health reasons such as kidney disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and so on, it can be harder to enjoy festivities while limiting foods that are less healthy.

    1. Limit salty foods.

    For kidney disease patients, one of limitations is to limit intake of salt. Eating too much salt will make you thirsty and you will drink too much fluid. The condition can worsen swelling and high blood pressure and worsen illness condition. Therefore, it is better to avoid fast food, french fires, canned food, bacon and so on. Remember to prepare foods with herbs and spices in place of high salt or sodium seasonings.

    2. Protein control

    It is important to have a low quantities but high-quality protein diet. Because for the damaged kidney, it will be a huge burden if taking much protein at one time. Impaired kidney fails to discharge extra protein from the body and it will produce more wastes and toxins in the body. But food with high-quality protein such as egg white, milk, fish can be eat in a proper amount.

    3. Select low potassium desserts such as cake and or fruits pies, instead of pecan pie, pumpkin pie, fruitcake or chocolate desserts.

    4. Don’t skip meals before a holiday dinner.
