I Have An Appetite, Does It Still Mean I Have Kidney Disease

I Have An Appetite, Does It Still Mean I Have Kidney DiseaseFor patients with kidney disease, their kidney disease can cause many health problems in their body, among which loss of appetite is very common. Many patients may have this curiosity: if their appetite has come back, does it mean patients still have kidney disease?

Why patients have loss of appetite?

Loss of appetite can be caused by many factors, which causes it is very common.

A major cause of this problem is edema in patient’s gastrointestinal tract, and that is mainly caused by massive proteinuria and low kidney function.

When patient’s kidney function fail to remove the metabolic wastes from patient’s body adequately, that will cause the accumulation of metabolic wastes in patient’s body. Some toxins can stimulate patient’s gastrointestinal system, and cause patients to have loss of appetite.

Besides, kidney has the function of regulating the balance of potassium in patient’s body, and this problem can cause patients to have loss of appetite easily.

Does it still mean I have kidney disease If my appetite has come back?

As we can see, loss of appetite is caused by many factors, and if these problems have been solved, patient’s condition will return to normal.

Thereby, if patient’s loss of appetite is caused by edema, patient’s appetite can come back when the excess fluid has been removed out from patient’s body. If the metabolic disorder of potassium has been corrected, this symptom will disappear and patients will have normal appetite. Besides, if patient’s GFR has been improved or if the accumulated metabolic wastes have been removed out, patients will also have normal appetite. Patient’s appetite will come back when these problems are solved, and that does not mean patient does not have kidney disease. In fact, if patient has chronic kidney disease, there is no cure for this disease so far.
